A late post of bento that I made yesterday, Winnie The Pooh. Mix the rice with yolk to get yellow color and the rest of the dish were left over dinner, 2 pieces of satay chicken with the pick removed , a small portion of green curry and peanut sauce with indonesian pickle.
Bento # 176- Winnie The Pooh Bento
The bento was inspired by the Winnie The Pooh roll cake I bake last week.
I love it when my bento and roll cake can be source of inspiration to both hobbies.
Yesterday was the first day of me going back to gym for morning exercise after a very very long (like forever) break. And as the result I slept like a baby and woke up this morning feeling energized (though my whole body was bit sore).
Since I have plenty of time I decided to make myself bento for lunch. Initially I plan to make something with the gym/exercise theme but nothing came out so I switch to something simple and easier, the classic panda onigiri.
Bento # 175 – Panda Bento
I stuffed the panda with chopped BBQ roasted pork (yesterday left over) and add few romaine lettuce and Chinese Xiang Chang sausage in the box and as a dessert/ afternoon snack I pack piece of steam black glutinous rice cake with coconut.

This is my second attempt making bento with Doraemon theme.
Same as my previous Doraemon I use meat patty for Doraemon’s face then decorate it with cheese, nori. And yes I have to insert Doraemon in between my bread before I eat it.

Ever since I start baking I find myself don’t have enough time to do both, however I am not forgetting and let go of bento especially after giving another private bento course to Mrs. HS yesterday I am encouraged to get back to my bento.
So today I woke up earlier and made my self a healthy bento where everything in the box are steamed (kind of take a short cut to cook everything at the same time).
Anyone recognize the character in the bento without looking at the title?
Yes I meant to make Cony the moody rabbit and Brown the chubby bear from LINE sticker. However after placing everything in the box I found myself getting rusty and not able to cut the nori the way I wanted it resemble Cony’s expression so I gave up and took out the nori puncher and just use the basic shape for the eyes and others resulted to Cony looks more like other ordinary rabbit and Brown looks more like Rilakkuma.

At least the roll cake resemble the character better than the bento.
Nevertheless making both bento and roll cake were fun.
Psst… after looking at the bento, I felt they were too healthy and I was craving for something fried or grilled so by the noon time, I swap my lunch and the bento went to my neighbor Mrs. HH 😀

Yesterday I received bunch of baso goreng (Indonesian name for Indonesian version of fried meat ball which combine chicken , prawn and corn/tapioca flour and other seasoning) from my BFF’s mum.
Yes my friend Ms. K ‘s mum is famous for her delicious baso goreng and I am so delighted when she told me that her mum’s is making them and I got my share too. I decided to convert some into bento before I really finish all those yummy baso (which in the process of bento making I already devoured about 5 pieces) 😀
Tada… I present you Bunny and Teddy which were made of Baso goreng.
Bento # 172 – Bunny and Teddy Bento
Cut the baso into 2 for bunny’s and teddy’s face and some more for the ears then decorated them with cheese.
For the side dish I have bunch of veggies, a piece of steamed chicken breast, mum’s famous stew egg and some blanched carrots cut into flower shape and ebi shape.
Also some Japanese purple sweet potato cake and berries for dessert.

Anyone notice the cute little round creatures in cupcake size? Well they were Japanese deco steam cake the rabbit been wanting to make for long and upon seeing the famous Singapore Bento master , Ms. Shirley from littlemissonigiri posted hers, the rabbit decided to copy Ms. Shirley’s idea.
And of course rabbit’s steam cake were not as good as hers. as you can see there were only 2 cakes in the photos which mean the rest of the batch were not good enough to be displayed nevertheless they taste good and rest well in rabbit’s belly.

A rather gloomy Tuesday and I decided to turn my lunch into bento despite the lack of ingredients. Situation like this remind me to make a good use of many of my new and un-used bento tools/accesories.
Bento # 171 – Little Mice bento
Today lunch consist of 2 rice balls decorated with cheese and nori and bento picks for the hats, few pieces of the freshly baked blueberry almond cake decorated with bento picks (music notes) , a portion of mushroom stir fry and few pieces of fried chicken wings.
Separately I pack a set of similar bento for my friend too Ms. HH, she is a big fan of mushroom and I hope the lunch can cheer up her up.

Today I spent my morning considering whether I should busy myself doing baking or making bento and finally I decided to make some bento since it’s been ages since the last time I made one. However I kind of running out of idea and stock of food, now a day my fridge consist mostly fruits, fresh cream, butter and other baking ingredients.
So upon ransacking the fridge I still have few leftover dishes from last night dinner, a quarter of roasted duck, small portion of fried rice and white steam rice. So I simply reheat the whole things and place the rice into my cute baking mold and voila, animal paw bento for lunch. Running out of green veggis so I take the short cut by adding some silicon baran for nicer color 😉

This bento was inspired by my last week baking on marble butter cake where I got to use my new and cute silicon mold.

Brown Butter Mushroom Tagliatelle
This is the first time I try cooking brown butter sauce and I love how the taste of the mushroom blend perfectly with the butter fragrance.
It’s been more than a month since my last post, apology for late response on comments as well as not visiting your blogs. If you wonder what happened to the rabbit, nope she was not holidaying and enjoying her summer break. Instead the rabbit is busy baking and when I said baking, it was literally baking almost everyday.
Yes, I am surprised as well that the new passion of baking turn out to be something that I grow to loved and decided to pursue further. Since last month, I had diligently attended various baking demonstration by local/overseas chef .
I also signed up for baking foundation course by Chef Judy Koh (if you are Singapore resident you might heard about Creative Culinary The School or had visited the caffe Pralet). Chef Judy is the face and driving force behind the school and the café . I am happy that The Creative Culinary Singapore had extended their reach and co-operate with “Ingredients” store in Jakarta whom established Creative Culinary Indonesia to offer various baking course from beginner to professional level.
I will complete my foundation class by next Sunday and can’t wait for my intermediate baking course which will start again in September.
On top of baking my course assignment as well as trying the recipes in different flavor or style, I had started to commercialized my new hobby.
Remember the cute decorative roll cake that I posted earlier? Well, it received many positive reaction from friends. Those whom had tried the cake wanted more for themselves as well as to send as gifts for friends or family because of the cuteness and those whom seen the photos in my Blackberry photo profile were intrigued and wanted to try and had been asking where, how to buy also what flavors, designed, and many more questions so I decided to create another blog called rabbitcanbake to documented by baking journey and to serve as my photo gallery when friends/customer want to know more about my roll cake.
As usual Ms. SM the one whom designed rabbitcancook logo had been so nice to design another rabbitcanbake logo for me.
