About

Before anyone started to ask “why rabbitcancook”?

The answer is : I was born in the year of rabbit and always considered rabbit as my “favorite pet” , though I never really own a real  rabbit.

And the “cancook” part is self explanatory that though I am a beginner, I believe I should be able to come out with something nice and edible. Most of the recipe in this site had been tested and proven to be yummy.  I have a high confidence in my taste as I am a foodie who eat almost everything and any kind of food . A little remarks that the almost everything will exclude insects and brain, so you won’t find any of those in this blog.

And if you follow the blog from the very beginning you may notice that I started to add Bento making since end of 2011, it is a new hobby that I enjoy and I found challenging, I got to play with my food and need to challenge myself to keep coming with new creative and idea.

What is this blog about ?

From now, it will be on the recipes on the food that I cook and the bento that I created, eventually I would like to add more than just a recipe, probably traveling and photo posting.

Why I blog  ?

I guess  it might because I love reading and I found many good blog across the net which most of the time are even more interesting and attractive than  published book, I hope that one day I can improve my blog to reach the level where people will find it interesting and  enjoyable.

I also like the idea to share thought, ideas and meet new friends and I am grateful that since I started blogging I got to meet many nice people who had become good supporter and good friends in many ways.

Who the real me :

A foodie, spa addict,  Japanese manga fans, an adventurer who love to travel, a shopaholic who try to stay clean, a bookworm, a melancholy and perfectionist rabbit.

What I want to say is :

I hope you will enjoy this blog, any comments, suggestions for improvement, especially on food styling and food photography are most welcome.

Happy reading,  happy cooking and happy bento making. Let’s share more joy through food and bento.

Cheers

  2. Hi there, I chanced upon your blog and I thought it’s really cool! The idea of using fruits for your bento #55 is really refreshing! Have been wanting to do something similiar for quite some time. Anyway, keep up the good work! Enjoyed reading your blog 🙂

  3. Hi Rabbit, I have found your blog and I enjoy your writing voice and your dedication cartoons and superheroes. I wonder if you have any stories about bad disasters you made happen in the kitchen? If so, maybe you’d like to submit that experience to my magazine. The magazine is called Nickel Steak, and we have a section called Kitchen @#$%ups. If you would like to submit, please feel free to email me directly at nickelsteakmag@gmail.com.

    • Hi nickelsteak, thank you for the interest on my blog as well as the offer to submit story to your magazine. There were few occasion when things turn bad in the kitchen but none that serious enough to fall under bad disaster category. Will keep the offer and email you when I have anything to share. Thanks.

  4. Hi Rabbit, I grew up in Japan taking o’bento to school, none as pretty as yours. looking at your o’bentos brings many nostalgic memories. Your o’bentos are adorable. You have a colorful and delicious blog. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you. Fae. 🙂

    • Hi Fae, thank you for stopping by and commenting, glad to hear that you like my blog and the Obento. I hope that one day if I have a kid and I make them bento, they will remember and have similar fond and nostalgic memory like yours of the obento 🙂
Not about the shape or cute things but the amount of love that come in the box. I believe Obento is all about love and joy in preparing the food. Cheers.

    • HI Vini,
thank you for stopping by, glad to hear that you enjoy my blog. I went to yours and found that your blog is very interesting as well, love the recipe , the photos and the detail information 🙂 Thank you for sharing such enjoyable post.

  9. I’ve just found your fascinating site – so much to look at! I’m fascinated by your Bento pages… I’ve read about it before but have never seen so many wonderful examples. Could you give a beginners guide to doing it? You are obviously an expert, could you give some hints to someone just starting?

    • Hi Lois, thank you for stopping and comment, glad to hear that my blogs can be of any use to you. Bento is fun and not as complicated as it seems. For a beginner you may want to start by using easy ingredient such as bread and use cookie cutter to shape them. And it is always worth to invest in paper puncher (easy way to make eyes and other decoration for face using seaweed).
I would like to recommend you to check http://www.justbento.com, the owner of the site is a bento expert and had published many bento books. The page also have lots of information and tutorial for beginners which can be useful for you. In the case if you are interested to know more details or have any questions on certain bento that I made, you can drop me and email at rabbitcancook@gmail.com. Take care and looking forward for you 1st bento.
      Cheers.

    • Hi KZ, thank you a lot for the nomination, I felt honored and loved, unfortunately I already received and post the same theme award before therefore instead of posting a same one again, I will modify my previous post and link back to you. Thanks.

      • And correction on my earlier comment, I found that the logo is different with the one I received before , so I will make time to post it later once I have time, grabbing links and info on the nominated blogs sometime can be tedious, especially when the internet is acting strangely 🙂
        Thank you again….. hugs

    • Hi Dear, thank you for the award…it’s an honor… I will post them the soonest I can. I remember I still have another award from you which I has not yet posted. It always take longer time to post an award because need to grab and link back to others, but I will definitely line them up in my posting 😀 Again… thanks 🙂

    • Hi Fae, thank you for the nomination and recognition, i will check it out, however i might take longer time to post because i still have few awards in line and its kind of a challenge to choose and nominating each different blogger in such close time in a row as i really want to pass the torch to the blogger that i think really deserve it instead of just posting them. I hope you understand and its ok with you. Again, thank you. Cheers.

    • Hi there, thank you for the nomination, since I just post about Liebster award last week, to avoid redundancy I will edit my post and re-published with additional link to yours, okay?
      Thank you for nominating me.

I might need sometime to post about it as I still have few awards in line and I just want to make sure I nominate the right blog instead of just posting it. Preparing for my Christmas holidays and will be away soon, so you award might have to wait until I return , hope it is ok with you 🙂

  20. You’re going to see a string of “Likes” from me and they are all truly sincere.I just had to stop checking and keep scrolling! Another food blogger introduced me to Bento only a few months ago and I think the idea is adorable, but you have raised it to a real art form!
Seriously, yours are works of art.
I like nothing better than making beautiful food.On my blog,I only want to teach the basics for people who don’t think that can cook or are intimidated by fancy-work and are afraid to entertain.
I will be coming back to check it all out here, in the meantime, I almost feel like I’ve ben to an art gallery…that I want to eat!

    • Hello Tonette, thank you for stopping by and comment so that i can find yours too, i love “Likes” and glad if my posts can be source of inspiration to you. I went to yours and i love the simple and yummy recipes which will be really usefull as side dish for my be to. I will definitely steal and try to make and have them in my future bento. Thanks for sharing and lets inspired one and another through food and blogging, cheers and take care.

  21. Hey Rabbit,
Thanks for visiting my blog today. I regret to admit I haven’t been by yours for awhile. But won’t let it happen again. Your food creations are amazing. I seen your photos on Flickr. Not all 200 of them. I sent The Eggs incident as an IM on my cell to my son and a friend. How imitative can that be. The mind and thinking processes can do a lot and yours sure shows that in your food creations. 🙂

You need to open a shop for mom’s to order these food creations as lunches for there kids. I know you would do great. I haven’t seen nothing like this before in the food world!!

Thanks for sharing. I always appreciate your comments and readership at Savor the Food. I promise I will not let a lapse in viewing Rabbit Can Cook again. I was missing out on too much.

    • Hello Chef Randall, thanks for the kind and supportive comment, please don’t take my visit as any pressure or obligation to visit back, its ok.
Thank you for liking my creativity and share them with your family and friend. At this moment i am taking this bento making just as hobby and way to let out the artist in me 🙂

Turning them into business? Well i think its long way to go because making food for children is not only matter on the outlook but also require expertise in nutrition balancce which i think i am sill lack off, but then hey… Thanks for the idea…who knows 🙂 cheers.
