Salted Egg Prawns

I was inspired to cook Salted Egg Prawns because of my friend Ms. Kinoi who happen to mentioned to me about her plan to cook this dish. And since  I never cook it before I consider it to be a good experience so I ask Mum for her recipe and here it is.

Ingredients :


  • 1/3 kg prawn (with shell)
  • 1 table spoon corn flour
  • 1/4 tea spoon pepper
  • 1 salted egg yolk, steamed and lightly smashed
  • 1 table spoon garlic
  • 1 table spoon chopped red chilli -> I substitute with dry chilli flakes
  • 1 table spoon butter
  • Cooking oil
  • Seasoning : 1 table spoon sugar + 1 table spoon light soya sauce + 2 table spoon water/chicken stock

Steps :

  1. Clean and trimmed prawns but keep the shell, season prawn with pepper and brush with corn flour
  2. Deep fried prawn for about 15 seconds, remove and set aside
  3. Heat butter and add garlic, stri fry until fragrance then add prawn, salted egg yolks and seasoning
  4. Toss briefly until prawns are cooked through and coated with salted egg yolk
