Bento # 10 : Chinese New Year Oranges Bento

Today Bento was inspired by the coming Chinese New Year 2012 Dragon year.

I am thinking to make something related with the CNY theme, however making a dragon shape Bento seems to be  a bit challenging so I resulted with this simple Oranges theme.

During Chinese New Year , tangerines and oranges are passed out freely   and they are one of the must to have items during the festive period.

The words for tangerine and oranges in Chinese sound like luck and wealth and symbolizes good fortune.

What’s in the box :

  • 3 slice of wheat bread – use the side/crust as the basket handle.
  • few mini oranges, cut into 2.
  • Lettuces.
  • Choco sauce to decorate  basket patterns.

The learning point of today Bento : Chocolate Sauce is not thick enough to stand firm on the bread, by the time finishing the touch up and about to take picture, they started to melt and flow to the other side (you can see some mess or stain on the basket). Probably melted cooking chocolate might give a better result.
